Angry UNIPORT Students Lock Up Teaching Hospital, Chase Away Doctors (Photo)

Aggrieved University of Port Harcourt, UNIPORT, students, on Monday, chased away all the doctors and nurses at the University of Port Harcourt Traching Hospital and locked up the hospital gate, barring movement in and out of the health facility.

The protesting students who came out in their numbers first barricaded the East-West road before moving straight to the University Hospital where they chased all the medical officials on call as a show of annoyance over the death of a Theatre Art student.

A 16-year-old girl identified as Bimpe Badmus is currently in pain from the injuries she sustained following an attack by her aunt. Bimpe’s aunt burnt her with a hot pressing iron, for allegedly having sexual affair with their landlady’s son.

The incident occurred on Ogunjirin Street, Ketu area of Lagos.
It was learnt that Bimpe’s aunt asked her friends, Khadijah and Iya Daniel to help hold her hands and legs before burning her with the hot iron on several parts of her body.

28-year-old Guvnor Ace (born Ronald Samawere) who had earlier been accused of ‘dating an ancestor’ got married to 68-year-old Lisa Johnson on August 20 in a civil ceremony held at the Uganda Registration Service Bureau in Kampala before friends and family members. Speaking to Uganda’s WBS TV on why he married his wife, the Ugandan dance-hall artiste said that young girls are a financial liability and some are not genuine.

Doctors in China are set to remove a ‘unicorn horn’ from the head of an 87 year old woman named Liang Xiuzhen in Guiyan village in Ziyang City, in south-west China’s Sichuan Province. The elderly woman, known locally as the ‘unicorn woman’ because of the 13cm-long horn on top of her head which began to grow about 2 years ago. Doctors are astounded by the abnormal growth.

According to Wang Chaojun, Xiuzhen’s son, the growth started about 8 years ago
“My mother complained about this mole-like growth on her head that itched all the time. We found ways to cure her itch using traditional Chinese medicine, and then left it be.”

But two years ago, the mole turned to a growth…which rapidly grew into this horn in about 6 months. “Now the horn hurts my mother and prevents her from sleeping. It also bleeds from time to time.” the son said.

Former Governor of Rivers State, Gov. Amaechi spoke, yesterday, in Port Harcourt, while addressing loyalists of the All Progressives Congress, APC that he was in the Rivers State capital to quietly attend a church program and will leave same day, adding that he had clear documents pointing at the alleged corruption acts of Governor Wike.

Amaechi vowed never to appear before the Justice George Omereji Commission of Inquiry investigating alleged sale of the assets of the state by his government, insisting that the establishment of the commission did not comply with constitutional provisions, that he will only appear before a properly constituted commission in the state.

I am a product of the University of Lagos and proudly so too. I feel good when I introduce myself as an ex-Akokite. I naturally align myself with anyone working for the progress of my alma mater and resist anything that could tarnish its image. That was why I joined other great Akokites to resist the unpopular decision of former President Goodluck Jonathan to rename the university. And I’m glad we succeeded.

For me, securing admission to the ‘flagship’ of Nigerian universities was no mean feat. I did not only burn the midnight oil, I tried ‘burning’ some in daylight just to get in. My cousin who was a UNILAG student then had told me that the university was very competitive. He said I needed a minimum of nine points in my Advanced Level result to qualify for admission. God’s grace coupled with my hard work helped. I got 11 points. So I had a smooth cruise to my dream university.

When a junior colleague was having personal problems, especially with h-er landlord, I let h-er m0ve in with me and my husband. Sh-e’s young enough to be our d@ughter and I enjoyed h-er company. It was to be a temporary solution until sh-e found alternative accommodation for herself.

But unfortunately, I’ve just discovered that this lady been enjoying herself sleeping with my husband right in my house. Even after sh-e moved out, sh-e continued the secret act with husband in h-er room.
