An armless man has been working as a teacher at a countryside school in Yunnan Province, China for over a decade. 41-year-old Jiang Shengfa lost both his arms in an electrical accident in 1996. However, that didn’t stop him from becoming a substitute Chinese teacher at a primary school in his village 12 years ago, and he has stayed on the post ever since.
Despite not having either of his hands, he manages to write on the blackboard with chalk tied to his right arm, and turns book pages with his mouth. Jiang’s handwriting is also surprisingly beautiful for someone with no hands. That owes to his tireless practice at calligraphy over the years.

He became an online sensation in 2013, and was offered a teaching job by an educational institution in Henan Province, with a much higher salary than what he receives at his current job. He turned it down, though, without hesitation, saying he could never forget where his career started – teaching students back at his hometown. “My happiest moments are when I’m with the kids,” Jiang said.
