If after 28 years of marriage, you guys still allow room for divorce then something is wrong somewhere.
An Ado-Ekiti Customary Court on Monday dissolved a 28-year-old marriage between Mr Imoleayo Sunday and h!s w!fe, Funmise. The marr!age was dissolved on grounds of frequent f!ght!ng and adultery.
Sunday, 51, a resident of Omolayo behind Queen’s Court, Ado-Ekiti, told the court that they use to f!ght over the way h!s w!fe spend their d@ughter’s school fees.
The father of two said whenever he gives h!s w!fe their children’s school fee, sh~e will not pay the money, which affected their first son academically.
He said whenever they have crisis, h!s wife would tear h!s clothes and destroy h!s properties.
He told the court that h!s wife was an adulterous wom@n, saying that sh-e aborted a pregnancy for one of h-er concubines.
The plaintiff said that h!s wife made the confession to him and h-er mother when sh-e fell sick.
He said that the M@n had been to h!s workshop to p!ck h!s w!fe, and sometimes came w!th h!s colleagues to threaten him.
“There was a day we were discussing on an issue, suddenly a car came to pick h-er by my side and sh-e left me alone,” he said.
Sunday said he was not happy that h!s first son refuses to be educated, stating that h!s mother was h!s problem. He prayed the court to award h!m the custody of the fem@le child.
However, their 15-year-old d@ughter told the court that sh-e does not want h-er parents to divorce as it would affect them. Sh~e said he~r mum told he~r about the divorce and said sh~e should put he~r mind at rest.
On h-er part, 45yrs old Funmise urged the court to award h-er the custody of h-er d@ughter.
The President of the court, Joseph Ogunsemi, observed that the marr!age had broken down irretrievably and consequently dissolved the marr!age.
He ruled that the custody of their d@ughter, Imoleayo Boluwatife, 15, should be awarded to the w!fe, while their son Imoleayo Olaoluwa (27) can decide on h!s own.
Ogunsemi also ruled that the husb@nd should be payingN4,000 monthlyon the g!rl’s feeding allowance.
